Hi there! The holiday rush is over and I am back in my sewing/quilting room.
In early November, I picked up a package at my local guild for the Quilts of Valour project. Volunteers had sorted and cut fabric for quilts in many patterns. They bundled them up into kits. At the quilt guild meeting, anyone interested could pick one up, sign it out and then assemble it.
I picked one up and have now put it together. The pattern is called “Simple Basket Weave”. The fabrics were various shades of blues & greens with golden brown ‘basket’ stripes. I wasn’t sure about the colors at first…but after an evening of sorting and playing…I assembled them in a diagonal color wash from light to dark and am pretty pleased with the top…
It has been dropped off at our local quilt shop and will be taken to a long arm quilter for quilting and then a volunteer will bind it! (The binding is already cut out and is the same fabric as the basket weave stripes). If anyone is interested in the pattern, please let me know and I will send it to you…. or perhaps you would like a tutorial? Let me know 
It’s a wonderful cause and I really felt good participating. Have you checked out Quilts of Valor? They have both American and Canadian websites. You don’t have to be a guild member to contribute…take a look at their websites for many photos of the quilts and recipients.
