Liebster Award

Wow!  I was surprised to be nominated for a Liebster Award by Monkey Needle (thank you) when a couple of days later I received another nomination from redbamsews (thank you, too!)

It took me a while to understand the award {it is given to up and coming bloggers with less than 200 followers and then passed along to other bloggers to help spread the word and support one another.}  It has taken me a few days to pull all the information together, so here it goes…

Here are the General Rules:

1. Answer the 11 questions set by your nominator;
2. Post 11 facts about yourself;

4. Ask 11 questions from your nominees; and
5. Go to their blog and tell them!

The 11 questions asked by my nominator are:

1.  What inspired you to start your blog?  Four years ago, I moved from the city to the countryside, about 2-1/2 hours away from my family and friends.  I started blogging to share all our adventures in our new home and see what we have been up to.  It slowly turned into my quilting, photography and cooking blog…I have met so many new people and many have become close friends.

2.  Name one person you admire and why.  My Mom.  I don’t think there is anything she cannot do!  She raised me and my two siblings; taught us right from wrong; be nice to people; finish what you started, don’t cry about what you cannot change and keep moving forward!  She survived  WWII and two major battles with cancer.  Through it all, she remained a happy and positive person that still lives on her own at the age of 82.

3.  What was some good advice that you did not follow?  Measure twice – cut once!  I made that mistake once and will always follow that advice now!

4.  What is your happiest memory from childhood?  Watching the Bugs Bunny – Road Runner Cartoon with my dad.  The usually very serious man would laugh until the tears streamed down his face at the antics of that silly road runner and the coyote!  I don’t know if the show or watching my dad was more enjoyable

5.  What did you want to be when you grew up?  I thought I would like to be a nurse – I ended up being an Executive Assistant.  It was an exciting career in its own way!  I have no regrets – I was a nurse to my kids and later to my mom!

6.  Name something you never thought you would or could do, that you’ve done since.  Down Hill Ski.  I am not the most athletic of people.  I did learn and was fairly proficient.  Sadly a back injury (not from skiing) has prevented me from continuing to ski.

7.  Pessimist or Optimist?  Optimist!

8.  If you had the opportunity to go back in time, where would you go?  I think I would love to go back to a simpler time; perhaps the 1950′s.

9.  Which 3 people from anytime in history would you like to share a meal with?  a) My grandparents – I never met them; b) Julia Child – she changed the way people cook in their homes; and c) HRH Queen Elizabeth II – she has met so many influential people and seen so many world changes in her lifetime.

10.  Where on earth would you like to visit?  Australia

11.  If you could have a superpower, what would it be?  I would love to be ‘Samantha’ of the old 1960′s TV show “Bewitched”.  Wouldn’t it be lovely to just twitch your nose and the house would be clean, dishes done, beds made, etc?  That would leave much more time to quilt, sew, and create!
